How Do SimplyClear Aligners Move Teeth?

SimplyClear treatment uses a series of custom transparent trays that fit closely over your teeth. Each set is designed to apply controlled pressure to selected teeth before you move to the next stage in the sequence.

The aligners are removable, but they only work while they are in your mouth. Most clear-aligner treatment requires wearing the trays for the large majority of the day and night, taking them out mainly for meals, drinks other than water, brushing, and flossing. Your exact wear instructions will come from your treatment plan.

What Can Clear Aligners Correct?

Aligners can be used for many common orthodontic concerns, including crowding, spaces between teeth, teeth that have shifted after earlier treatment, and selected bite problems. They are not automatically the right tool for every kind of movement.

Your dentist will evaluate the position of the teeth, how the upper and lower teeth fit together, and whether removable treatment can accomplish the needed changes. If fixed braces would provide better control for your situation, that should be part of the discussion from the beginning.

Orthodontist-Supported Treatment Planning

One of the features that distinguishes SimplyClear is the support built around the treatment plan. Through orthobrain, U.S.-based orthodontists provide case evaluation, treatment planning, and ongoing guidance as the aligner case is developed.

Your Dental Design Studios dentist remains responsible for your care, monitors your progress, and works directly with you at the office. Behind the scenes, orthodontic support adds another layer of review to the planned tooth movements instead of leaving the setup to automation alone.

What Happens Before Treatment Starts?

Clear aligner treatment begins with an examination of your teeth, gums, and bite. Dental X-rays, photographs, and digital records may be needed so the treatment plan reflects the health and position of the teeth, not just how the smile looks from the front.

TRIOS 3D intraoral scanners are available at all nine Dental Design Studios offices and can create detailed digital models of your teeth. Once the records are complete, the case can be planned and reviewed before your aligners are made.

Attachments, Fit, and Follow-Up Visits

Some cases use small tooth-colored attachments bonded to selected teeth. These give the aligners additional grip for movements that are harder to accomplish with a smooth tray alone. They are designed to blend with the teeth, but they may still be noticeable when someone looks closely.

You will also return for progress checks so the dentist can make sure the aligners are fitting and the teeth are responding as expected. If a tray no longer seats properly, is lost, or becomes damaged, contact the office before skipping ahead. The sequence is planned carefully, and jumping several stages can make the next aligner difficult to wear.

Eating, Drinking, and Cleaning With Aligners

Aligners come out for meals, which means there are fewer food restrictions than with fixed braces. Remove them before eating and before drinking beverages other than water unless you are specifically told otherwise. Putting trays back over food debris or sugary drinks can trap residue against the teeth for hours.

Brush and floss consistently, keep the trays clean with the recommended method, and avoid very hot water that could distort the material. Regular dental cleanings remain important during orthodontic treatment because straightening teeth does not replace routine cavity and gum care.

How Long Does SimplyClear Treatment Take?

Treatment time varies with the amount and type of movement required. A minor correction after previous orthodontic treatment may be very different from treating significant crowding or a bite problem.

Consistent wear also matters. Leaving the trays out for long periods can slow progress and make later aligners fit poorly. Once the plan has been created, your dentist can give you a timeline based on your actual tooth movements instead of a generic estimate.

Retainers After Clear Aligners

Once the active aligner series is finished, the teeth still have a natural tendency to shift. A retainer helps hold them in their new positions while your mouth adjusts after active tooth movement.

Follow the retainer schedule you are given even if the teeth look stable. Retention is part of orthodontic care, not an optional extra after the last aligner, and the recommended schedule may change over time as the result becomes more established.
